About Hardinge Machine Tools

Harding first was introduced as Hardinge Brothers, Inc. formed by Henry and Franklin Hardinge of Chicago, Illinois. At first they had created a company for the watch making industry. In 1983 the company developed its first CNC Lathe, the Model HXL. It wasn't until 1988 when they released their Conquest machine tool line, making them a commercial success. During the 1990's and 2000's the company changed its name to Hardinge Inc. and acquired some other big name machine tool manufacturers including: Bridgeport, L. Kellenberger, Hauser, Tripet, Jones and Shipman, Usach, Voumard, Tschudin and many others. By merging into one large company Harding was able to cast a large footprint producing an array of different types of CNC machine tools. The name Hardinge is mostly connected to their innovations in NC and CNC lathes, joining ventures with other machinery builders allowed them to broaden their product lines and offer complete solutions for their customers. Today Hardinge is one of the foremost CNC metal machining manufacturers in the world, producing a wide variety of reliable turning, milling, grinding and workholding solutions for the CNC metal working industry. With their wide reach many industries rely on Hardinge brand products including: aerospace, medical, communications, agricultural, transportation, energy electronics, construction, defense and many others. Hardinge is a global wide company having representation in over 65 countries. With over 100 years in manufacturing industrial machine tools, Hardinge has developed some of the highest precision and reliability machine tools available in today's machinery market.
