About Makino Machine Tools

Tsunezo Makino in 1930 started his company Makino in a machine shop located in Tokyo Japan. Today Makino builds some of the world’s most precise and highest quality metal cutting and EDM machine tools, horizontal machining centers, vertical machining centers, graphite machining centers, and 5-axis machining centers. The company has become a world wide leader of machine tool manufacturing with facilities also in the Americas, Asia and Europe. In 1981 a merger with the LeBlonde Machine Tool company brought Makino to the United States. Through research and development Makino’s improvements in technology helped lead to better cycle times, productive cutting and tooling, reduced scrap, improved process capability and increased output. Faster speeds, tighter tolerance, quality first and longer lifespans are all values Makino exhibits. They were the first company to develop a high speed milling spindle and software for high speed machining. Makino software creates a highly integrated connection between the CNC operator and the machine producing the work piece. Their horizontal and vertical milling machines include 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis with smaller footprints up to large capacity machines with tables up to 2400 mm in length. Makino is run in a vast array of industries ranging from highly accurate aerospace and medical manufacturing through automotive and general standard machining. Makino now is a worldwide company with representation in over 41 countries and is widely considered having the most advanced and accurate machining centers.
